Fishing Alaska Kenai River /May/June - The first Alaska Kenai River King Salmon of the year begin to show in early May. These fish average 20-50 lbs and are chrome bright silver bullets on the end of a fishing line. This fishery is very appealing for many reasons: first of all they are a great treat after a long salmon-less winter, but also because the low water and moderate competition create the perfect environment for anglers who enjoy the relative solitude of the early season... and don't forget, the world record King Salmon was caught on the Alaska Kenai River during mid-May!

Fishing Alaska Kenai River / July - July is the peak season on the Alaska Kenai River. The second run of King Salmon hits the Alaska Kenai River on the 1st of July and generally gets better and better as the season moves along. These salmon are the largest on average in the world, and while fish generally range from 30-60 lbs, catches over 80 pounds happen every year here! And I haven't even begun to talk about Kenai River Sockeye Salmon, which come in waves of up 100,000 per day! It is very common to spend part of your day with your guide, and the rest of it getting after sockeye from the riverbank in front of your very own cabin. August/September/October - Once the Kenai River King Salmon season ends, and the crowds begin to disperse, the fun really just beginning. During the fall on the Kenai River Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and Dollies make the King Salmon easy to forget. A trip on the Alaska Kenai River might involve some hot silver fishing, non-stop trophy trout action, and some of the most breathtaking and soul-cleansing scenery on the planet. Alaska Silver Salmon fishing is generally good from August 1st through the end of October. Trout fishing is always good, but the fish move with the season and the spawning salmon, so an experienced guide with Fishology Alaska should be able to get you on Alaska Rainbow Trout and dollies no problem.
